Malawi Phoka AB/C
Tracing its roots back to 1971, the Phoka Coffee Cooperative proudly supports the work of almost 800 new and established farmers. Phoka's exceptional coffee thrives in the picturesque Phoka Hills of Northern Malawi, to the east of Nyika National Park, where the temperate climate and reliable rainfall make for optimal growing conditions. Here, the farmers of the cooperative receive ongoing training in coffee farming best practices, with a focus on implementing regenerative agricultural principles whenever possible. Included in this training is instruction on colour picking for ripe cherries and the processing procedures carried out at the washing station. Both of these factors play a crucial role in the final quality and flavour of the coffee.

Roasters Notes Phoka AB/C
I'm a sucker for a pretty bean, and these are some of the prettiest to have come through the roaster in a while. The high altitude they're grown at not only results in a tiny, dense bean, but it also leads to a complexity of flavour that we're really enjoying here.
About Malawi

Coffee farming in Malawi owes its origins, at least in part, to Scotland, with the first tree being transplanted from the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens to southern Malawi in 1878.

Nowadays, Malawi has an annual output of approximately 1,650 metric tons, grown by smallholder farmers on large estates.

There is little regional distinction in the climate and terroir of Malawi’s coffee growing regions, resulting in consistent output of typically sweet, clean coffees from the main growing areas.
